Interfaith Chinook Country Kitchen

The Interfaith Chinook Country Kitchen provides individuals and families information on how to prepare low cost healthy meals. A small group of up to six people gather for cooking sessions under the guidance of our Kitchen Coordinator who provides kitchen and food safety information and can adapt recipes for health concerns.  An Early Childhood Educator is available to provide care for children under 6.  The ECE staff offer parenting tips and support; administers the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) on children's development; and facilitates programs such as Big Chef Little Chef, Young Chefs, and Kids in the Kitchen.

Adult Cooking Classes

Connecting with community, meeting new people and learning basic food preparation and cooking skills are all highlights of this program.  The focus is on healthy eating on a limited budget. Participants make two recipes for a family of 4 which are taken home and enjoyed!  Children under 6 are provided with their own program while parent/caregiver cooks. Classes are offered Monday through Friday, mornings 9:30-11:30am, afternoons 1:00-3:00pm, evenings 6:00-8:00pm.  Space is limited to 6 cooks.  Registration required.

Young Chefs

Building confidence in the kitchen is one focus of Young Chefs.  During the program youth ages 11-14 years, will meet new people, develop friendships and learn basic cooking skills including recipe adaptation, kitchen and food safety, outdoor oven and BBQ use.  Everyone received an Information Booklet, recipes and their food to take home and enjoy.

This program is offered during school breaks such as Family Week in February, Easter Break and Summer.  Call 403-320-8138 for dates and times.

Nobody's Perfect
